brief

To create a series of illustrations for Edward Lear’s Book of Nonsense. The project should be appealing to children, whilst being quirky and fun. The project should be rich in character and feel spontaneous, reflecting the poetry itself.

OUTCOME

I decided to use a hand-drawn approach for this project, avoiding the use of computer-generated type in favour of a more animated style.

I used hand drawn typography alongside original acrylic paintings, to convey the message of Edward Lear’s unique and unorthodox poetry.

I employed the use of a dry brush technique with acrylic paints, being a little looser in my approach to create these imaginative and original illustrations.
